POSTPONED: Renewables in Mozambique 2020 Conference (2nd Edition)

23-25 March 2020

The Lusophone Association of Renewable Energies (ALER) and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER) will organise a Conference in Maputo, Mozambique from 23 to 25 March 2020, with the financial support of our partners GET.invest, Energising Development and the Green Peoples’ Energy programmes.

Further contributions to the conference will be provided by Solar Power Europe (SPE) and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE). These organisations are expected to mobilise their members and contribute to sessions to enable inclusion of best practices from their members in global and regional markets.

The Renewables in Mozambique 2020 Conference aims to share information on the latest developments and investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector in Mozambique, as well as provide networking opportunities for all stakeholders in the sector: entrepreneurs, government officials, donors, funders, NGOs and academic institutions, both national and international. The main topics to be discussed are:

  • Regulatory framework
  • Renewable Energy Finance
  • On-grid market development
  • Off-grid market development
  • Institutional coordination

The first edition of Renewables in Mozambique was organized by ALER in 2017 with financial support from the predecessor of GET.invest - the Africa EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) and was able to mobilise 300 attendees and turned out to be a landmark event in the development of the renewable energy sector.

GET.invest is a European programme focusing on mobilising the private sector and developing a pipeline of renewable energy projects. GET.invest is supported by the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Austria. In Mozambique, GET.invest is part of the Project Preparation Facility of PROMOVE ENERGIA - a comprehensive strategy between the EU and the Government of Mozambique to deliver access to sustainable and affordable energy to households and businesses in rural areas.

The Energising Development Partnership is a joint impact-oriented global programme of Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom and Switzerland, with additional co-funding from Ireland and the European Union.

The Green People’s Energy programme is financed by the German Ministry of Development Cooperation and  supports the development of decentralised renewable energy systems in rural regions of Africa with the involvement of local stakeholders and private investors. Particular emphasis is placed on the participation of municipalities, cooperatives and local companies. In addition, the project promotes local value creation and the productive use of energy and social institutions, and also creates employment opportunities.
