The Government of Lesotho has received a loan and a grant from the African Development Fund towards the cost of LESOTHO ELECTRICITY SUPPLY PROJECT and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the loan to cover eligible payments under the contract for “The Pre-Feasibility study of Monontša Pumped Storage Scheme. The required services include: a) topographical survey of the entire site b) Assessment of geological and geotechnical conditions of the proposed project site c) Assessment of dam types and locations d) Assessment of reservoir capacities, based on dam construction and production costs of the entire power electrical system e) Hydrology and siltation studies f) assessment of environmental and social impacts (scoping level) and confirmation of absence of fatal flaws g) Preliminary design of all main components of the scheme h) Assessment of the technical and economic feasibility of the scheme The Implementing Agency, Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC), now invites eligible consulting firms to submit an Expression Of Interest in providing the above mentioned services. Interested firms must provide a statement of capability and experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignment, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, annual financial report over five (5) years, litigation or cases of arbitration relating to contracts implemented or under implementation, etc).. A short list of six firms will be compiled in accordance with the procedures set out in the African Development Bank’s Rules and procedures for the use of consultants (may 2008 edition) Written expression of interest must be delivered in sealed envelops to the address below by hand or by registered mail latest by 12.00 noon local time on 9th July 2010. E-mail, late and faxed applications will NOT be accepted.
