The Cameroon government has released a list of seven companies pre-qualified to construct a 30 MW hydropower plant at Lom Pangar Dam, which is being built on the country's Sanaga River. HydroWorld.com reports that the shortlist includes: * Angelique International Ltd. of India; * Cegelec of France; * China CAMC Engineering Co. * Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios of Spain; * CRBC Addis Engineering PLC of Ethiopia; * Elecnor SA of Spain; and * Voith Hydro GmbH of Germany. Cameroon utility Electricity Development Corp. (EDC), which solicited applications for pre-qualification in September, said several other Chinese companies also submitted bids, though their applications were eliminated during the screening process. The utility recruited consultants last year to design and implement a local development plan for communities affected by construction of Lom Pangar. EDC hired China International Water and Electric Corp. to complete construction of Lom Pangar Dam and commissioned Coyne et Bellier to oversee the work. Construction began in 2012. In addition to its own 30 MW, Lom Pangar is to increase water storage for an additional 120 MW of production capacity at 263-MW Edea and 396-MW Song Loulou hydroelectric projects also on the Sanaga.
