Webinar – The Mount Coffee expansion and hybridization journey

This presentation explores the Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant Extension in Liberia and its role in strengthening the country’s electricity system. It provides an overview of the proposed 40 MW expansion, the engineering and economic evaluation that led to the selection of Z-type Kaplan turbines, and the use of BIM to support integrated multidisciplinary design. The presentation also examines the hybridization of hydropower with solar PV and battery energy storage, demonstrating how coordinated operation can improve dry-season reliability, optimize water resources, increase renewable-energy production and support Liberia’s growing electricity demand.
