The Mpatamanga Hydropower Storage Project is located on the Shire River, the largest river in Malawi and a tributary to the Zambezi River, and situated in the southern region of Malawi, within the Blantyre and the Neno Districts.
The Project is co-developed by the Government of Malawi, EDF, SN Malawi BV and IFC under a Public-Private Partnership scheme. MHPL is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established in 2022 to develop, finance, construct, own and operate the Project. MHPL is the Employer for the Project.
